The Rollerskiing in New Zealand Sucks

This post is for the five nordic skiers who read this in the summer.

We headed up another yet another insane road to Snow Farm today. Even though it's "winter" in the valleys of New Zealand, we finally found real winter here, up at 5000 feet. Six inches of fresh powder and not a tree to be seen -- we had no choice but to shred as much gnar as can possibly be shredded on nordic skis.

The only problem was that we had to earn our vertical on groomed trails. That's a problem? It is when you're accompanied by Ben Koons (probably heading to the Olympics for NZ this winter) and some Canadian Ski Team guys. First day on snow + too much pride = extreme soreness imminent.

Pictures never do it justice. This was a huge f-ing cornice, I swear.

Alex invited me to go hill-bounding this week in Waltham...and we all know that is just as awesome as Snow Farm. Damn dude, killer vacation. You are already one day on snow ahead of Luke.

US Cyclocross Nationals Travesty Report: Junior Girls

Important Facts Update and Hyperbole Correction - The Junior Girls 15-16 race was supposed to be 30 minutes long, so the 7 girls who made it 2 laps were not "pulled" from the race, they were removed from the course after the finished their race.  Without firsthand testimony it's impossible to know how clear they were on their race duration being 2 laps shorter than the boys race happening simultaneously -- based on Turner Ramsey's quote to Cyclocross Magazine, it was certainly not a straightforwa
