Women's Cyclocross National Championships Bar Cam

While I was off promoting a silly race, Linnea went out west to kick ass and take names in a very non-silly race. I sent my bar cam along so I could vicariously experience her race.

It ended up being a total, catastrophic debacle -- broke her skinsuit zipper before the start, missed her callup trying to fix it, bad start, and then, just when she put it together enough to start moving up -- BAM, rolled tubular FAR from the pit. Game over.

It sucked a lot, but there are two important things to remember here: 1) it was her first of many elite nationals. She is so pissed now that she will crush everyone next season, me included. 2) AT LEAST SHE GOT SOME CAM FOOTAGE! Priorities, people!

Sounds frustrating. Bad enough to blow a run up or lose a chain to mud, but a zipper?! Not even fair!

Wow. That was painful to watch--so sorry Linnea. And so sorry for me next year when she seeks to destroy us all. Maybe I'll take up water polo.

1. the first 20 seconds is top shelf.
2. you can see how damn hard it was to pass on that course. Was fun to ride, I admit it.
3. Linnea was too nice to ditch a bunch of drunk old married men at the after party. That too shall pass.

Did she slip and fall while running or just get pissed and throw the bike?

Broken skinsuit zipper is now referred to as a "wardrobe malfunction." No societal debaucle at least, but certainly a dirty shame. (As well as the tire!)

way way better watching women racing with a bar cam than men. good stuff.

it was heart breaking being in the pits wondering if i'd missed her in the group going by, knowing i didn't, but hoping I did then the confirmation of the lone October figure jogging in. She almost couldn't have been any farther away from the pits... dreadful feeling.

US Cyclocross Nationals Travesty Report: Junior Girls

Note:  if you're a USA Cycling representative or Austin 2015 representative, and want to add a comment, rebuttal, fact, or perspective to this discussion, feel free to email me at colin.reuter@gmail.com and I'll post it here verbatim.  I fully accept that I wasn't there and don't know every issue that may have contributed to the decisions that were made.  There may be an explanation for these events that I am not aware of, and if so, I would love to hear it. Important Facts Update and Hyperbole Correction - The Junior Girls 15-16 race was supposed to be 30 minutes long, so the 7 girls who made it 2 laps were not "pulled" from the race, they were removed from the course after the finished their race.  Without firsthand testimony it's impossible to know how clear they were on their race duration being 2 laps shorter than the boys race happening simultaneously -- based on Turner Ramsey's quote to Cyclocross Magazine, it was certainly not a straightforwa
