2011 Birkie Cam

2011 Birkie Cam from colin reuter on Vimeo.

I had a GoPro poking me in the back for 50k and all I got was this 188th place finish.

Ski marathons are not a fundamentally action-packed experience, but I did what I could with the edit here.

For more silly nordic-cams, check out last year.

So, yeah, awesome video as we have come to expect. Do note that next year there will not be anyone stopping for feeds (in the elite wave), seriously how hard is it to grab a cup of water at 15 mph and throw it at your face when it's 0˚? I got every feed and didn't slow down once. But maybe that's because I am even awesomer at taking feeds than I am at crawling up from DFL in the elite wave to requalification.

Great video. Great glide there- what did you use for wax? Also, do you weigh 200 lbs? - you were passing people without poling.

I weight a mere 150 lb but did have fast skis. We used Toko LF blue with a Holmenkol pure flouro topcoat.

Also... just because I'm not poling doesn't mean I'm not skating :)

Colin, no credit to the wax tech, come on dude.
The actual wax was toko Lf Blue base layer with Rex hard moly mix then toko HF blue mix with Moly. Then Holmenkol Mid 08 Pure Flour on top, ironed brushed then corked and brushed again.

Wow the Birkie looks sick. Think I can tag along with you next year?

Also, where do you download your electronic music from these days?
Colin R said…
Aaron: you can totally do the Birkie with us next year. The total cost between airfare, lodging and entry ends up being ~$600 or so, fyi.

I'm all over the place for electronic music these days, you can get the source for the video and a lot more from prettylightsmusic.com. If you know the name of an artist you like, hypem.com is pretty awesome, too.

Dude, hypem is sick. I love any website that makes it easier for me to be lazy about searching for music. Also digging Pretty Lights.

That was the BEST exchange I've ever heard during a race. Keep it up--there's nothing better than racing action with some comedy mixed in.
