awe great... maybe you'll get the new J-hole moniker - pint glass or not
BTW... colin...
maybe you can clarify your point thing...
esp regarding the 40 needed to go from 3-2 not to mention the bumped up field from 20-30...
can't ever upgrade to a 1 from a 2/3 race... so those 2's can keep sandbagging to their heart's content unless someone tells em to start racing in the elites...
2-1 needs 40 points in races that are 60 min long...
but then everyone is already well versed in those rules from feeling bad about calling someone a dirty sandbagger only to find that they aren't...
wtf? my point thing? if you mean crossresults, I follow the nebra points that are linked from the racer page as well as I can. Field limits are enforced correctly. Time limits are not, because most races don't list times.
anyway, to pretend that the cx upgrade rules are well defined is pure ignorance. We all know that Diane applies common sense over the strict letter of the rules any day, as she should. likewise, these guys (or at least awerbuch and peterson) should move up, regardless of what technicality might make it "legal" for them to keep racing 2/3 or 3/4.
You're making a strong case for why most people use full sentences when they communicate.
Sure, they're defined, they're also completely impossible to apply. Not until racer categories are listed on results can we even begin to actually do upgrades by the book.
Until we can do them by the book, then the whole thing is a crapshoot. The upgrade rules I speak of not whatever arbitrary and impossible shit USA cycling prints up -- I'm talking about whatever Ms Fortini uses in her head when deciding whether to allow an upgrade.
Wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong, but as of last year anyway, a Cat 2 could take out a UCI license and race elites. Not sure if that is still the case. If this is still so, unless you plan to go straight from 3/4 to the elites, a 3 may as well just race the 2/3, as until you start placing in that one, you probably aren't ready for the elite anyway. And you can still do a 3/4 so long as you stay a 3. As of right now, so long as you don't want to race elite, you may as well be a 3. There's no advantage to upgrading. Of course, everything is subject to change. Nothing says the feds couldn't start encouraging 3 only races, or force everyone who is a 2 to take out a UCI license. Maybe not likely, but I never thought we'd see a separate cross category on our license either.
I don't like 3/4 races. If you're a 4 racing 3/4 instead of 4, just win a few 4 races and upgrade. If you're racing it as your second race, well, tough.
Same for 1/2/3.
I understand the need for 2/3 at Verge so that not every cat 2 has to buy a UCI license, plus it makes for a good killer B field.
But I HATE 3/4.

so much for "auto upgrade"
maybe diane f should be sent an "anonymous" link to that...
wow.
That's the most technical form of trash talking I have ever witnessed.
funny as heck
BTW, I'll buy you a 12 pack of whatever you want if Willi's name mysteriously gets left off the published results at Wrentham...
I have a guess based on the seller's location, but it's only a guess.
i haven't taken that much abuse since cylorazzi replied to my post on 'the list'
ouch...
We can make this happen.
J-sneaky

easy to apply?
nah
open to wiggle room?
maybe...
maybe i don't see as many gray areas as you do...
:-p
it just bike racing...
(i guess i am making a strong case to some how be left off the results, assuming i even finish, much less make to the start)

full sentences good
gewilli write bad
make people and himself confused
complete sentences make clear
poetic justice and fahked up writing do two things
#1 work to understand
#2 ignore
#2 is usually the better option
i be way too much of an I D ten T lately...
My girlfriend is a Cat 3 and she has a UCI license, and rides elites.
cat 3 lady-types can race elites at nationals, but not cat 3 boyz
if the damn promoters would get their collective asses together - or maybe USAC - and race categories it'd be helpful and positive.
in the mens side have:
P/1/2
3
4
no 2/3 or 3/4 races...
dats the only way to clear up the sandbagging bitching and all that...
ya race 4 until you get enough points... you race 3 until you show that you are fast enough to go to 2...
but then like all shit i utter on this subject - just another dumbass idea in incomplete sentences....
